It's Finished!

Hi There,

A few months ago my sisters introduced me to the wonderful world of scrapbooking. I wasn't sure about it at first as I didn't think I'd be any good at it so Kirstin  suggested I start a project that has to be completed and then once it's finished I could decide if it was a hobby I enjoyed, Surprise surprise I LOVE it! So over the past few months I have been working on a 2008 calendar I still don't think it is wonderful as Kirstin and Tracey are both so arty and do some spectacular pages but it's not too bad for a beginner. :-)

So here goes with a bit of info about each page...

January

This layout is of Port Jackson, this is where Roger and I used to go every year camping after xmas in the summer holidays. It's a lovely place and feels like you are in paradise we haven't been able to go the last couple of years last year because our wedding was just around the corner and there was so much to do and the $$$ were running low and this year because we no longer have a vehicle big enough to take all our gear but we hope to be able to go next year.

February

Well I'm sure this one says it all, Roger and I were married last year on the 24th of February and it seemed only fitting for this calendar that February was dedicated to our wedding as we will be celebrating our 1st anniversary.

March

As Easter is in March in 2008 year I decided a photo of our pet bunny was the perfect thing for March, I now have my very own easter bunny. :-)

April

Mine and Roger's birthdays are both in April and I had these pictures of us as babies at about the same age so I thought it was a good way to display them. (this was also the very first page I ever did).

May

There's no particular meaning with this month I had no idea what to do for May and I wanted to do something with the pictures I had from Movie world when we went there while on honeymoon so that's how this page came about.

June

My Girls. For years I was involved in a theatre company and over time I became very close friends with a group of girls, for some reason we always referred to each other as "Pretty" and then one day we had some jackets made with our "Pretty logo" on it life has taken us all in different directions now and some of the girls aren't even in NZ anymore but I will always consider all of them very close friends and I love them all.

July

BOMWATS! One of my addictions/obsession is wombats or Bomwats, I had this wombat hole punch that mum got for me and then I took some photos while in Australia at the beginning of the year so I put this lay out together. I think they are such adorable creatures.

August

A day at Western Springs. A while ago Tracey, Steve, Roger, Ashley and I went to Western springs to have a walk Ashley had a wonderful time playing on the playground but she seemed to have an even better time following Roger around and doing what he did. She really loves him it's quite cute.

September

I just loved this photo of my Cat, he is like my baby and I had to get him in the calendar somewhere.

October

This is another one of those months I wasn't sure what to do with but I thought I should have a page for roger since he is going to have to stare at this calendar all year so I did a page of him on the Coastguard boat, yup it's him driving the boat (not that you can tell).

November

I had these gorgeous photos of Ashley adn Devin playing at various different times over the year.

December

The gingerbread house. Last xmas I was given this kit to build your own gingerbread house it then sat around all year and Iw as determined to get it done for this xmas so while in Auckland for the xmas break Roger, Mum and I sat down for a few hours and put this thing together. It was lots of fun but it was so big we had no idea what to do with it when we were finished.

So that was my first attempt at scrapbooking it's not too bad but I'm now looking forward to getting in and getting some 12x12 layouts done so watch this space and hopefully I will do some pages that I want to share.

Have a great New Years everyone.

Roger's Last Crew Day!

Hi All,

Well we were down in Auckland for the weekend for Roger's last day out on the Coastguard boat as a rostered Skipper. I'm pretty sure he had a great day and then when he came off the water a lot of the coastguard group were there to to see him and have a few beers etc... to wish him well. Everyone hung around for about an hour or so and then they all had "Things to get too" so they all said there goodbyes to Roger and I and left. I told Roger we had to get changed because I was taking him out to dinner, so we got changed locked the shed and got in the car. There we were driving along and I told him I just had to drop the swipe card for the shed back to Debbie's on the way to the restaurant little did he know that most of the people that had said goodbye to him at the boat were at Debbies waiting for him for a surprise BBQ/Party. He saw some of them as we pulled up and was a bit blown away I think, it was a great night though and I think Roger was really happy to be able to spend some time with the people before he was gone for good from the group.

Here are a couple of photos from the day, nothing overly exciting but pretty special to me as it is prob the last time I'll ever see him in the coastguard boat as a skipper.

So Roger and I are getting everything ready at the mo to head down to Auckland (yes again) to spend christmas with the family. I'm quite excited but first of all we have some friends coming to stay with us for the night arriving tomorrow morning. They are sailing a friends yacht up here and we're gonna take them home with us when we go down on Sat. This is gonna be a full on weekend/christmas holiday I think. we are gonna go out to the movies with mum on Sat night I think which I'm really looking forward too, we have a really tiny cinema up here and the movies are a bit behind.  It is Ashley's 4th birthday (my niece) on sunday so we'll be having the party sometime on sunday and then monday (christmas eve) we are having the family christmas dinner so I'd say most of that day will be spent sorting out the food etc for that. Christmas really is my fave time of year so I'm looking forward to that, then on tuesday (Christmas day we're gonna have a bit more of a low key day, we're gonna head over to Roger's Mum's for breakfast and then back to my mum's and we'll prob do the present thing with her and then pack a nice picnic (leftovers) and we were thinking of heading to western springs park for a nice picnic (weather permitting of course). then on Wednesday we'll pack the car up and head back home and we're gonna spend the rest of Rogers holiday exploring this part of the country and finding all the good beaches and stuff.

Well should prob go and get some more housework done so that it's all clean and tidy when we come back next week.

Have a great christmas.

Xmas Bunny!

Oh I just remembered I  have another couple of photos to show they are soooooo cute, Since we've moved up here I have discovered I can let my bunny wander around the deck all day and he doesn't dissapear and every now and then he wanders inside and curls up and goes to sleep. The other day he was wandering around inside and then I heard a ripping noise I look over in the direction of the xmas tree and there was a little bunny trying to open the presents...

Isn't he the cutest?

Nag, Nag, Nag! ;-)

Hehehehehe.

Kirstin has reminded me it is time to post again so here I am.

Not an awful lot has happened up here recently I've been getting down into sort of a funk because I'm bored and lonely during the day as I have not a lot to do and have left all my friends and family down in Auckland, but I will be fine. I'm sure it's natural and after xmas I should hopefully be able to find myself a job which will put me out into the community and I will start to get to know people.

I popped down to Auckland for the weekend just been but didn't get to see anyone really as I was helping out my mates with a Production of Alice in Wonderland that they were doing. It was lots of fun I was in charge of sorting out the wigs for the Alice's and there were 3 wigs that after a while started to take on personalities of their own so me and one of the girls in the cast named them, quite strange really but lots of fun being in that theatre environment again I didn't realise how mush I miss it until I was there with the lights and the costumes and the music I really would love to be on the stage again.

Roger and I are heading down to Auckland again this weekend for Rogers last crew day ever with Coastguard North Shore it's gonna be a bit weird to say goodbye to everybody but we will see most of them again I'm sure. We're heading down on Friday night and will prob be in Auckland by about 9pm at the latest (fingers crossed and traffic allowing) we thought we might pop to the mall when we get there as it is open till midnight and we figure that if we go that late at night then hopefully we won't get caught in the christmas shopping madness that we'd get if waited to go until Sunday morning. We're pretty much finished our shopping we just have David (My Bro in law), Rogers Dad and the last of each other to shop for so we should only need about and hour then we'll be all done. Then on sunday we will head home for the week and then come back down again the following Saturday ready for christmas so that should be fun (our petrol bill is getting a bit scary).

Oh I nearly forgot we fed the ducks a few weeks ago and had so much fun here are some pictures of us feeding them a bit random I know but it was fun and I want to share.

It's crazy to think that to feed those ducks we walked under the little bridge that's down the road from us and today when we were there we had no chance of being able to walk under that little bridge as the water level is so high after the storm that it is impossible to walk along any of the rocks now.

Anyways should prob go and do the dishes and stuff.

Ciao for now...

So here goes!

So... Kirstin has been urging me for a few weeks that I should start a blog to keep people up to date with what is happening with Roger and I up here in Kerikeri and to give me something to do.

I'm just trying to get the hang of it all and how it works.  For those who don't know me, My husband Roger and I moved to Kerikeri from Auckland a few weeks ago to follow a job opportunity that Roger was offered that was just to good to turn down. At this stage I am not working but that will probably change after xmas.

Anyway, now I am up and running and I will try and keep it up to date with what is going on in my life and I may post some pics of some scrapbooking pages if I feel ready for people to see them. Thanks to my lovely sisters who are avid scrapbookers I have also started dabble but I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

Well best off, Roger will be home from work soon and we are going to go for a walk down to the inlet to feed the ducks.
